Two questions; Who's style was this to portray and 2, who would sponsor it I mean think about it (SPOLIERS); rorschachs dead, manhattan is exiled, spectre and owl changed identities, and ozymandius is in some sence exiled. So where would the show pick up from?
It's sort of my own style with a little Bruce Timm. I didn't really think out logistics for why they would actually DO the show, I just wanted to draw it, really. Truthfully, unless it were an HBO animated miniseries that just covered the book, it would be awful, probably much like the link someone posted just above. Check that out, it's hilarious.
i've seen the movie yesterday, loved it! and this..?? this looks like a VERY VERY realistic view on the characters. This looks as good as the batman animated series (The cartooney one). This should be on tv! Great great job man, and thanks for giving me this awesome wallpapers which i'm gonna use for a LOOOOOONG time!
Ooh! A very nice bit of work! I particularly like you making Nite Owl look like Batman (of whom he was, at least partly, intended to be a parody). I think that you caught both the appearance and the spirt of many of the characters here.
An animated Watchmen is, of course, impossible. Partly due to the extremely counter-heroic message of the story mut mostly due to the fact that Jon runs around buck naked
And now a thought. Post the end of the graphic novel, what would have become of the surviving heroes (and villains)? Laurie said that she wanted something darker as her new AE. "Something with a gun". How about trying to draw her as... "The Comedienne"? Eddie would have been proud of his little girl
I don't know, they did the HBO Spawn animations a while ago that were pretty graphic... But really, it'd be pretty redundant to animate Watchmen at this point, as cool as it might be. I like how this style is coming along though, and I think the plan is to do more series in the same vein. I'll make a journal post with my options.
Instead of writing comments for each one, I'll just post all my comments here.
You have done a fine job of adapting the characters from a 'graphic novel' look to a 'cartoon' look while changing very little of the original appearance of the characters. I could imagine that this would be the form of the characters if they turned them into an animated series.
I really like how you used your own style and didn't copy someone else's, which is what many people on this website seem to do, consciously or subconsciously.
the style here reminds me a lot of a mix between American and European styles, which interests me enough into checking out your gallery in the near future.
I know this comment seems to be becoming a little long now, but hey. You DID encourage advanced critique.
